This painting is meant to be something of an homage to the Justice-era Metallica imagery, the design itself is based off of imagery and lyrical themes I found throughout the songs on 72 Seasons. I enjoyed revisiting my older processes and techniques while utilizing many of the watercolor and drawing concepts I’ve developed in recent years. I made a thumbnail, a sketch, a black-and-white drawing, and finally a watercolor-painting-over-printed-keyplate.
